About SSAPS

History of SSAPS

The Saudi Scientific Association of Plastic Surgery and Burns was established under the umbrella of the Ministry of Education, in King Abdulaziz University, Council No. (6) in its sixth session for the academic year 1421/1422 AH, held on 18/2/1422 AH (12 May 2001). Its permanent location is at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. The Association carries out its activities in developing theoretical and applied knowledge, and in providing scientific and applied consultations and studies for both public and private sectors, in accordance with the regulations governing scientific associations in Saudi universities

Vision

To advance the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery in Saudi Arabia and establish the Saudi Scientific Association of Plastic Surgery and Burns as the leading national reference in this specialty. The Association seeks to achieve this through excellence in medical education, innovation in scientific research, and by strengthening the Kingdom’s position in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the regional and international levels.

Mission

To enhance the scientific and professional standards of plastic surgeons and to drive progress in medical education and research in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery. The Association is committed to improving the quality of healthcare and contributing to the well-being of the community.

Goals

Scope of Activities

  • Organizing seminars, workshops, and courses related to plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • Participating in local and international exhibitions in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • Inviting related scientists and experts to take part in the association’s activities in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • Establishing partnerships and agreements with local and international entities in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, in line with the university’s procedures
  • Participating in local, regional, and international exhibitions and conferences in the specialty, in accordance with the university’s procedures
  • Leading research initiatives and public awareness campaigns in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • Promoting best professional practices and clinical standards in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery

Support Resident Education

The SSAPS works closely with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties “SCHS”, which is the governmental body responsible for physician practice and resident education.

National Communication

We are working on formulating a committee that work with the Ministry of Health in all plastic surgery related practices. This will go along similarly with any product related to plastic surgery and the Saudi FDA.

International Recognition

With an international recognition, communication will be much easier. It’s great to provide common pool for residents and physicians to learn and/or improve their own practices. It will improve their opportunities for future research

Encourage Safe Practices

With the continuum of education and the supporting of research, together with working with Ministry of Health and Saudi FDA in plastic surgery related topics/materials

Members Recruitment

While providing good scientific support and benefits for members we will continue to reach out for all the Saudi plastic surgeons, recruit new members and to have a better representation of plastic surgeons in the Kingdom
